Further Notes:	Alfred Ignatius Flood was the son of John Joseph Flood (Constable DMP) and Sarah Murphy. Married Anne Ellard on 3rd June 1931 in St. Michael's Church, Limerick. During the 1930s he was promoted to Inspector and Superintendent ranks and in 1965 was elevated to Chief Superintendent. In 1967, he was promoted Assistant Commissioner and in May that year became Deputy Garda Commissioner. Retired on 9th April 1972. Was president of the Garda Pensioner Association from 1972 until 1985. Resided in Howth, Dublin. Died on 30th March 1997. He is buried in St. Fintan's Cemetery, Sutton, County Dublin.
