Transferred in 1932 to Carrick On Shannon, County Leitrim. He was a prominent member of the rowing team for the Gardai, Wexford and Carrick on Shannon. On 19th May 1933, Garda Connelly along with two other local men drowned when they got into difficulty while practicing rowing in a boat in the River Shannon in Carrick On Shannon and they took on water during bad weather. He is buried with his family in Kilcummin Cemetery, Oughterard, County Galway. |
