Sean Rabbitt was born in Baslick, Frenchpark, County Roscommon and was the son of Pat Rabit (a farmer) and Mary Cryan. Eventually reached the rank of Lieutenant. Married Teresa Connolly on 22nd April in Aughrim Street Church in Dublin. While in Limerick he was the founder of the first GAA Garda Club to win a championship, which contributed to him getting the name 'The Great Gael'. Superintendent Rabbitt died while in Dublin in August 1962, having been stationed in Gorey, County Wexford. |
