Son of Francis MQuaid (Sergeant Royal Irish Constabulary) and Mary Ann McCann. During the War of Independence he served with the Banbridge 3rd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 4th Northern Division. Married Margaret Murphy on 9th June 1926 in Dungarvan Church, County Waterford. Retired on 11th March 1953 and resided in Rathgormack, Carrick on Suir, County Tipperary/Waterford. Died on 22nd November 1961 in St, Mary's Hospital Paddington, London, after he was hit by a car. He is buried in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery Rathgormack. |
