Son of James Semple (a Farmer) and Mary McDonnell. On 10th March 1929 he along with Garda Thomas Mahon (Reg No. 3981) tackled and armed man at Ballycallion Church near Kilmanagh, County Kilkenny. He was awarded the Scott Medal along with Garda Mahon on 24th June 1930. Married Evelyn O'Reilly on 28th October 1942 in Portumna, County Galway. Retired on 7th October 1954 and resided in Mountmellick, County Laois. Died on 29th June 1958 at Mercer's Hospital, Dublin. |
