| Further Notes: | Hugh Duffy was born in Castleisland, County Kerry. He was the son of John Duffy (Constable RIC) and Mary Kate McCarthy. Promoted to Superintendent in 1925 and Chief Superintendent in 1943. Married Elizabeth O'Regan on 14th April 1928 in Killorglin, County Kerry. He was an Adjucant at the Depot from 1934 until 1943. He regularly contributed to the Garda Review magazine and was a noted football player for Kerry, Retired in 1956 and resided in Rathdown Road, Dublin. Died on 24th April 1957 in Jervis Street, Dublin. He is buried in Deangrange Cemetery, Dublin. His brother was also a Garda: Thomas Duffy (Reg No. 4779). | ||
