| Further Notes: | Cornelius Benedict Barry was the son of James Barry (a Schoolteacher) and Elizabeth Donovan. Served in the irish Volunteers during the War of Independence and as a Clerk in the Irish National Army during the Irish Civil War before joinign the Civic Guards. He enjoyed writing poetry, where he publiched a poem entitled Connemara Lass in the October 1931 issue of the Garda Review Magazine. Married Bridget Cullen on 22nd Janaury 1936 in Laurencetown, Ballinasloe, County Galway. Retired in 1954 and resided in Douglas Lawn, Cork. Died on 28th September 1969 in the North Infirmary, Cork. | ||
